Coronavirus Spreads Through Shelton, CT Nursing Homes
SHELTON, CT- The sheltonherald.com writes that the coronavirus is spreading through the nursing and assisted living homes in the city. So far, there have been 56 fatalities associated with these homes in Shelton.
At least one person has died in all four of the nursing homes located in Shelton. The data released by the governor indicates that three of the facilities have numbers so high that they are some of the deadliest outbreaks in the entire state.
A representative for Naugatuck Valley Heath stated that the number of deaths associated with COVID-19 is defined as people who tested positive for the virus close to the time of their death. It is not always clear that the virus was the direct cause of that person’s death.
Each of the nursing homes in Shelton is considered a virus hot spot. The facilities are all privately owned and operated. The city is trying to assist these homes by donating protective gear to staff members to help them care for their patients while also lowering their own risk of exposure.
