Norwalk Nursing Homes Report Ten Deaths From the Coronavirus

NORWALK, CT- Thehour.com writes that at least ten people in nursing homes in Norwalk, Connecticut have tragically died from COVID-19. The state reported that the Autumn Lake Health Care and Cassena Care facilities had confirmed the infections and related fatalities.* 

At the Autumn Lake facility, thirteen people have suffered coronavirus infections, and eight have died. At Cassena, eleven people tested positive for the virus, and two have died. 

The city is working with the homes and other similar facilities to monitor and trace the spread of the virus and to provide support. The city donated personal protective gear to the homes. The facilities have also banned visitors from entering in an effort to curb the spread of the disease. 

Other facilities, including rehabilitation and assisted living homes, also had residents test positive for the virus. Reports have not included a list of all the impacted homes. 

Nursing homes and related facilities are presenting a challenge when it comes to preventing the spread of the coronavirus. Healthcare workers are coming and going from the buildings, and once someone inside is infected, the virus can spread through the population of residents in the homes quickly.
