Macon-Bibb County Coroner Warns of Dangers Associated with Low Temperatures
MACON, GA – The Macon-Bibb Coroner, Leon Jones, stated that there are several dangers associated with the cold weather that Georgia has recently experienced, according to WGXA.TV.*
The coroner said that some of these dangers include:
- Hypothermia from temperatures below 32 degrees
- Carbon monoxide poisoning due to un-vented space heaters
- Fires that start from unsupervised space heaters
"Be careful, have a working smoke detector," Jones reminds the public. "Check on your neighbors and the homeless. Look out for them. If you have a blanket, give it to them, because they are homeless."
The Coroner indicates the importance of assisting loved ones and those in need during cold weather. It is also important to remember to keep all pets safe and warm during this cold weather.
