Four People Tragically Killed in Tour Bus Crash in Utah

October 01, 2019

PANGUITCH, UT. – According to a news report posted online at ncnewsonline.com, four people were tragically killed in a tour bus crash that happened near Panguitch, Utah. The victims were part of a tour of several national parks in the United States and were at the time headed for Bryce Canyon National Park.*

The accident happened on a highway located a few miles outside of Bryce Canyon. A group of tourists from China was traveling on a bus to the national park on their seventh day of a sixteen-day tour. Investigators say that near a rest stop on the highway, the driver of the bus somehow left the edge of the roadway and then appeared to have overcorrected. As the driver tried to reenter the highway, the bus overturned and rolled.

All 30 people with the tour group were injured in the accident, according to New Castle News, as was the bus driver. The news report indicates that four people on the bus tragically died, including three women and one man. The report states that their ages were 68, 67, 65, and 62, and they were all from China.

In addition, approximately fifteen people sustained critical injuries, according to the report, and as of the last status update, five people remained in critical condition. New Castle News states that seventeen people were transported to Intermountain Garfield Memorial Hospital, and other victims were taken to hospitals in St. George, Utah, and Cedar City, Utah. None of the injured passengers was identified. The driver was also not identified but was said to be an American.

The bus was reportedly owned by America Shengjia Inc., and the travel agency involved was Shanghai Zhuyaun International Travel Agency. In addition to local authorities, including the Utah Highway Patrol, the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the collision.
