October 25, 2019

CLINTON, NC. – According to an online news report posted at clintonnc.com, two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash that happened on Highway 242 near Clinton, North Carolina. State Troopers are still investigating the wreck, and two drivers have been charged in connection with the incident.*

The accident occurred during the afternoon at the crossing of State Road 1338 and Highway 242. North Carolina State Highway Patrol and The Sampson Independent report that a pickup truck of unknown make and model and a 1995 Dodge van were traveling in opposite directions on Highway 242. The truck was traveling north, while the van was traveling south.

At the same time, a 2006 Nissan was headed east on State Road 1338, approaching the intersection with the highway. At the intersection, Troopers say the driver of the Nissan did not stop at a stop sign and proceeded east. The truck then crashed into the Nissan, after which the Nissan ran off the road and rolled onto its roof. The driver of the van tried to avoid the accident and ended up veering off the road and crashing into a ditch.

The Sampson Independent reports that the driver of the van and a passenger in the van were injured in the accident. The driver, identified as a woman from Salemburg, North Carolina, was airlifted to WakeMed Hospital, while her passenger was taken to Sampson Regional Medical Center by ambulance. Their current conditions were not reported.

No other injuries were reported in the news story. The Sampson Independent reports that the driver of the Nissan, identified as a resident of Roseboro, North Carolina, was charged with driving without a license and failing to stop at a stop sign. The Sampson Independent further reports that the driver of the van was charged for driving with a revoked license.
