Full Policy Limits Obtained For an Elderly Woman injured in a Head-on Collision in Atlanta

August 19, 2010

Montlick & Associates, Attorneys at Law, received a call from a woman who was a passenger in a vehicle that had been stuck head on. Another driver had swerved into oncoming traffic and collided with the car our client was in. Since our client was taking blood thinners at the time of the accident, her body swelled up and bruised so much that doctors were amazed that she survived. Our client also sustained broken ribs due to the accident and was in the hospital for four days.

Our client also was using medical assistant dogs for prior medical issues. She was under significant financial strain since she was already disabled prior to the accident and now needed additional help with all the treatment she needed from this accident.

The Defendant, a 22 year old man, was driving but was not paying attention. It was discovered after the accident that he was playing with his radio and that when he looked up he saw traffic had stopped, so he swerved into oncoming traffic- hitting the car our client was traveling in.

Once our client was released from the hospital, she still had major bruising as a result of blood pooling in her body, along with 4 broken ribs. Our client also received injection treatments in her knee and underwent orthopedic surgery on both of her wrists. Along with the physical pain, our client suffered emotional pain. She was already restricted in what she could do before the accident and lived on a very minimal income. After the accident, our client was further restricted and had to rely on friends and her dogs to help her throughout her day. There were many times the client called our law firm because she was very depressed due to her situation. She also worried about what the outcome would be.

Montlick & Associates, Attorneys at Law, helped our client find medical providers that would accept Medicaid to help alleviate her financial burden. Our Atlanta auto accident attorneys looked into all of the available insurance policies that may have been available to the client but there was only liability coverage available (there was no uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage available). Our client appreciated the compassion our attorneys showed her by making themselves available to talk with her about her injuries and keeping her positive.

Unfortunately, only $100,000 in insurance was available. Due to the extent of her physical and emotional injuries, Montlick & Associates, Attorneys at Law, were able to obtain the full policy limits of $100,000 for our client.
