Top Pick in 2020 NFL Draft Includes Derrick Brown, Former Auburn Star and Montlick & Associates Athlete of the Year

April 23, 2020

The 2020 NFL draft will make history this week as general managers make their picks in a fully virtual format during the peak of the global coronavirus pandemic.  Despite watching from their homes, the anticipation and excitement will still be on a grand level for four Georgia high school standouts.  Expected to be top picks are Derrick Brown from Auburn, Alabama’s Xavier McKinney and Georgia’s Andrew Thomas and Jake Fromm.

Derrick Brown, former Lanier High School and Auburn defensive tackle, is expected to be a first-round pick.  In high school, he was the ninth highest recruit in the country and the number one ranked recruit in Georgia.  In 2015, Brown was named the Montlick & Associates Athlete of the Year.

Former Roswell High School and Alabama star, Xavier McKinney, is anticipated to be a first-round selection in the 2020 NFL draft.  In high school, he was ranked as the twelfth best safety in the country.  McKinney was named a 2016 Montlick & Associates Athlete of the Week.

University of Georgia’s Andrew Thomas attended Atlanta’s Pace Academy, and was the top offensive lineman in 2016 from the state of Georgia.  He was also recognized as a 2016 Montlick & Associates Athlete of the Week.  He is a first-round projected pick.

Jake Fromm, former Houston County High School player, was ranked as the fourth best pro-style quarterback.  He continued his career at the University of Georgia.  He was also honored as yet another 2016 Montlick & Associates Athlete of the Week.  Fromm is an expected second-round selection.

We want to wish all our former Montlick & Associates Athlete of the Week winners good luck in the 2020 NFL Draft.
