The woman kept going in a southwest direction and ultimately ran off of the road and into the grassy median where she struck a large tree. As a result of the impact of the crash, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County Fire Rescue.  The passenger of the second vehicle was injured however, the drivers of both the second and third vehicle did not sustain any injuries.

The occupants of the second and third vehicles have not been identified.  The accident remains under investigation by the local police.  There are no further details on the crash at this time.

Approximately one-third of all vehicular accidents are caused by drivers who go at an excessive rate of speed.  Speeding lessens a driver’s ability to react and stop in time to avoid a crash.  High speed-associated accidents also result in an increase of the forces on the human body in an accident caused by speeding. As such, the injuries arising out of crashes where a driver is speeding are far worse than other types of accidents.
