Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Two Vehicles on Orange Blossom Trail in Osceola County, Florida

OSCEOLA COUNTY, FL. – According to a news article posted online at, a pedestrian was fatally struck by two vehicles on Orange Blossom Trail in Osceola County, Florida. The person had reportedly just been discharged from the hospital and was trying to cross the roadway while using a walker. One of the drivers who hit him fled the scene.*

The incident happened during the overnight hours by Hilda Street on Orange Blossom Trail. Florida Highway Patrol and the Orlando Sentinel report that shortly after midnight, a man with a walker was crossing the road. The news report states that he had been a patient at AdventHealth and had been discharged from treatment not long before. The report did not have information on why the man had previously been hospitalized. 

As the man was crossing Orange Blossom Trail, a southbound 2014 Chrysler van (model not reported) somehow ran into him. The impact threw the man into the northbound lanes of the road, where another vehicle struck him. Troopers say that the Chrysler driver stopped after the collision, while the second driver continued north on Orange Blossom Trail, fleeing the scene of the accident.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that the man tragically died from his injuries at the scene of the accident. He was identified as a 56-year-old man from Orlando. 

The driver of the Chrysler was identified as an 80-year-old man from Kissimmee, Florida. The report did not say whether he was injured in the accident. No information about the second vehicle or the suspect driver was provided in the report. 

The accident is still under investigation by Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers are searching for the driver of the second vehicle, and they ask anyone who might have information on this person’s whereabouts to call the Crime Line at (800) 423-8477.
