Vehicle Hits Child Bicyclist on Stirling Rd. in Cooper City, Florida

COOPER CITY, FL. – According to a news report posted online at, a vehicle hit a child who was riding on a bicycle in the area of Stirling Road in Cooper City, Florida. Little information about the accident was included in the report, but the article indicates that the driver of the vehicle was issued a citation in connection with the collision.* 

The accident happened in the morning at the crossing of Stirling Road and 90th Avenue in Cooper City. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office and Local 10 report that a child was riding a bicycle near the intersection, when a vehicle ran into him. It is not clear where the child was riding or in what direction, and the direction the vehicle was traveling was also not reported.

The make and model of the vehicle involved were not listed in the article. It is unclear what events led to the accident, but the news report states that authorities responding to the scene issued the vehicle driver a citation for running a red light. The report did not give any information about why the driver might have run the light or what circumstances surrounded the accident. 

Local 10 reports that the child was transported by emergency responders to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The child was identified as a student at Pioneer Middle School. His age and grade were not reported. His injuries were said to be non-life threatening. A current medical condition for the child was not provided. 

The driver of the vehicle was identified only as a female in the news report, and the article did not say whether she was injured.
