Man from O’Brien, Florida Tragically Perishes in Crash in Branford, Florida

BRANFORD, FL – According to an online news report at, a man from O’Brien, Florida tragically died in an accident that sent two others to local hospitals in serious condition following a multi-vehicle collision earlier this week.*

The accident occurred at the intersection of State Road 247 and County Road 49.  Per the Florida Highway Patrol, a blue GMC pickup truck was headed southbound on County Road 49 through the intersection with State Route 247 around rush hour when it slammed into the front of a Ford F-150 and then struck a Dodge Charger that was a stop sign on County Road 49.

Following the crash between the F-150 and the GMC, the GMC traveled into the grassy median while the F-150 then slammed into a Dodge Charger that was located at a stop sign on County Road 49. 

An 85-year-old male from O’Brien, Florida was riding as a passenger of the GMC and was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  The operator of the GMC, an 85-year-old female from O’Brien, Florida was taken to a local hospital in Gainesville, Florida where she is listed as in critical condition.

The driver of the Ford F-150, a 53-year-old female from O’Brien, Florida did not sustain any injuries in the crash.  

Chargers are expected to be filed against the at-fault driver.  The nature of the charges will not be released until the Florida Highway Patrol has had the time to conduct a thorough investigation of the accident. It is not clear what caused the GMC to slam into the front of the Ford F-150 however, alcohol is believed to have played a role in causing the accident.   There are no further details on the accident at this time.  The accidents remain under investigation by the local police.
