Man from Dunedin Charged with DUI after Crash in Pinellas County, Florida
PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – According to an online news report at tbreporter.com, a man from Dunedin was taken into custody earlier this week after he ran a red light and slammed into another automobile, per the Florida Highway Patrol.*
A 31-year-old woman, from Port Richey, Florida, sustained critical injuries in the accident. She was a passenger of the vehicle that was struck by the impaired driver. She was transported to an area hospital at Bayonet Point. The driver of the vehicle and another individual sustained injuries and were also taken to a hospital in Bayonet Point.
The drunk driver, a man, aged 43 from Dunedin, Florida, was taken into custody and is facing the charged of Driving Under the Influence involving Serious Body Injury, which is a felony. He did not sustain injuries in the accident.
The accident occurred in the nighttime hours as the intersection of East Lake Road and Keystone Road in Pinellas County. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the drunk driver was operating a 2010 Ford F250 going westbound on Keystone Road when he ran a red light at the intersection of East Lake Road. His Ford F250 then slammed into a 2017 Ford Fusion that was located at the intersection and was attempting to turn left pursuant to a green arrow.
There are no further details on the accident at this time. The crash remains under investigation by local authorities.
