School Bus Involved in Accident on North Federal Hwy in Pompano Beach, Florida

POMPANO BEACH, FL. – According to an online news report posted at, a school bus was involved in a vehicle accident on North Federal Highway in Pompano Beach, Florida. The details surrounding the accident have not been fully reported at this time, and the cause of the collision is not yet known.*

The crash took place in the morning, close to Northeast 18th Street on North Federal Highway. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue and Local 10 report that a school bus was traveling on the roadway and was somehow hit from behind by an SUV. The school district affiliated with the bus, along with the make and model of the SUV, was not reported. It is not clear what direction the vehicles were traveling at the time. 

The news report indicates that the back of the bus and the front of the SUV were badly damaged following the accident. Authorities responding to the scene did not provide information about the cause of the crash, nor did they state any factors they might be looking into as potentially contributing to the collision. 

Local 10 reports that eight children were on the school bus at the time of the crash. It is not clear if any of the students or the bus driver sustained injuries. The students’ ages were not reported, and the bus driver was not identified. The report says the students were transferred to a different school bus. 

The driver of the SUV was also not identified in the report. Local 10 states that he or she was injured in the accident and treated, though it is not clear if the treatment was rendered at the scene or if the driver was taken to a hospital.  

Authorities are still investigating the crash, and additional information was not available at the time of the report.
