Woman Tragically Dies in Head-On Crash on Osceola Polk Line Rd. in Osceola, Florida

September 24, 2019

OSCEOLA, FL. – According to an online news story reported at aroundosceola.com, a woman tragically died in a head-on crash that occurred on Osceola Polk Line Road in Osceola, Florida. It appears the collision happened when a vehicle attempted to pass traffic using the opposite-bound lane of travel, and three vehicles ended up crashing.*

The crash occurred late in the afternoon, close to Shady Oak Drive on Osceola Polk Line Road. Florida Highway Patrol and the Osceola News-Gazette report that shortly before 5 p.m., a 2019 Tesla (model not reported) was traveling west on the roadway and moved into the eastbound lane in order to pass slower westbound traffic.

It is not clear how long the Tesla was traveling in the eastbound lane, but near Shady Oak, it ended up crashing head-on into an eastbound Ford pickup truck (model not reported). The Ford traveled up and over the Tesla during the impact, the report says. A 2013 Ford Escape then crashed into the front of the Tesla.

The Osceola News-Gazette reports that the driver of the Tesla tragically died at the scene. She was identified as a 29-year-old woman from Apopka, Florida. The news report further states that the driver of the Ford truck was injured and taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center for treatment. He was identified as a 56-year-old man from Riverview, Florida. His current medical condition is not known.

The driver of the Ford Escape, identified as a 23-year-old woman from North Carolina, was not injured in the crash, the news report says. It does not appear that any passengers were riding in the three vehicles.

Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident, and Troopers had not released further information at the time the report was published to the Osceola News-Gazette webpage.
