Fifteen-Year-Old Boy Tragically Killed in Accident on I-95 in Miami, Florida

MIAMI, FL. – According to an online news story reported at, a fifteen-year-old boy was tragically killed in a vehicle accident that occurred on Interstate 95 in Miami, Florida. The boy’s mother was also seriously injured in the crash, according to the news report, and charges are pending against the other driver.*

The accident happened near Northwest 103rd Street on the southbound side of I-95. Florida Highway Patrol and NBC Miami report that a Nissan of unknown model was stopped in the shoulder in the interstate express lanes, when a Dodge Challenger crashed into the back of the Nissan. It is not clear why the Nissan was stopped in the shoulder or what circumstances resulted in the accident. 

The news report indicates that the Dodge had been traveling at the high rate of speed prior to the crash, and witnesses reportedly said that the driver had been behaving recklessly on the interstate. This information was not confirmed by authorities. No official cause for the accident was reported, nor were any confirmed factors involved in the crash.

Two people were riding in the Nissan at the time of the accident, including a mother and her son. NBC Miami reports that the son, age fifteen, was transported to the Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he tragically died from his injuries. The mother, who was not identified in the report, was also taken to Jackson Memorial, and she is reportedly in critical condition. 

The driver of the Dodge was identified only as a female. NBC Miami reports that she sustained injuries in the crash, as well, and she was taken to an unnamed hospital for treatment. Troopers say that charges are pending against her and will depend on the results of the accident investigation.
