Pedestrian Tragically Killed in Accident on I-75 in Naples, Florida

NAPLES, FL. – According to a news report posted online at, a pedestrian was tragically killed in an accident that occurred on Interstate 75 in Naples, Florida. Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the accident, and Troopers have not yet released identifying information on the victim.*

The collision happened late at night, close to mile marker 105 on the northbound side of I-75. Florida Highway Patrol and Naples Daily News report that at approximately 11:30 p.m., a pedestrian was walking in the area and attempted to cross the interstate near Golden Gate Parkway. As the pedestrian entered the northbound lanes of the roadway, he was hit by a Mercedes AMG that was headed north in the right lane.

It is unclear where the pedestrian had been walking prior to the accident or why he was trying to cross the interstate at the time. The lighting and road conditions on this stretch of the interstate were not reported. Authorities are still working to determine how the collision happened and what events led to the accident. 

Naples Daily News reports that the pedestrian tragically died in the accident. He has not been identified at this time, as Troopers indicated that next of kin had not yet been notified about the collision. 

The news report identified the driver of the Mercedes as a 29-year-old man from Naples. It is not clear if he was injured. The report did not say if he was the only person in his car at the time of the accident or if any passengers were in the car.

Florida Highway Patrol is still completing its investigation of the collision. At the time the Naples Daily News report was published online, Troopers had not released additional information. It is unclear if charges are anticipated in the case.
