Fatal Collision Between Motorcycle, Truck Reported on S.R. 85 in Okaloosa County, Florida

OKALOOSA COUNTY, FL. – According to a news story posted online at, a fatal collision between a motorcycle and a truck was reported to have occurred on State Road 85 in Okaloosa County, Florida. The motorcyclist was tragically killed in the accident, according to the report, and the crash remains under investigation.*

The collision happened in the late evening at the crossing of State Road 85 and Auburn Road. Florida Highway Patrol and WEAR report that at approximately 9:45 p.m., a motorcycle of unknown make and model was traveling north on State Road 85, while a truck of unknown make and model was traveling west on Auburn Road. 

At the intersection of the two roadways, the truck traveled into the northbound lanes of State Road 85 and into the path of the motorcycle. The news report says that the motorcyclist tried to swerve or brake but was not able to avoid the crash. The front of the truck crashed into the side of the motorcycle, according to the report. 

WEAR states that the motorcyclist tragically died at the scene of the crash. The report identified him as a 55-year-old man from Laurel Hill, Florida. It appears he was the only person on the bike at the time of the accident.

The driver of the truck was identified as a 22-year-old man. His city of residence was not included in the news report. It is not clear from the report if he suffered any injuries or if he was riding alone in the truck. 

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. Troopers have not identified the cause of the collision or listed any factors that played a role in the accident, but they reportedly said that alcohol was not involved. Charges in the case are pending the outcome of the investigation.
