Deadly Crash Occurs in Ocala, Florida

September 22, 2019

OCALA, FL – According to an online news report at, two individuals tragically die in separate traffic accidents earlier this week in Marion County.*

One of the accidents caused the shut-down of traffic going both ways on Interstate 75 as the Florida Highway Patrol investigated the crash.

Per troopers, a cement truck was traveling north on Interstate 75 in the middle lane, when, for reasons that are not known, the truck went to the left of the roadway and slammed into the guardrail and into oncoming traffic.  The truck then flipped over on its right side and hit into the side of a 2015 Honda CRV.

The trucker, identified as a 58-year-old man from Ocala, Florida, perished at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Honda, a 69-year-old woman, was taken to an area hospital with injuries that are described as serious.

The Florida Highway Patrol indicates that the wreckage from the cement truck hit into an 18-wheeler and a Ford pickup truck. The drivers of these vehicles, both of whom are from Georgia, sustained injuries.  The accident occurred about two miles northbound of the County Road 326 exit.

The Florida Highway Patrol further provides that there was a pedestrian who was hit by an automobile died as a result of the impact of the crash.  Troopers note that the pedestrian, a male, was going across State Road 200 at Southwest 95thCircle going eastbound to westbound.  Eyewitnesses indicate that the male pedestrian was experiencing some type of medical emergency and was holding onto a traffic pole. He collapsed in the left-turn lane, causing him to be struck by a vehicle that was making a left turn.  The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

There are no further details on the accidents at this time.  The crashes remain under investigation by the local police.
