September 17, 2019

ORANGE COUNTY, FL. – According to a news report posted online at, a driver was seriously injured after a three-vehicle accident that occurred in Orange County, Florida. The report indicates that the driver was trapped in her vehicle after the crash and had to be freed by firefighters.*

The accident occurred in the early morning at the intersection of Old Winter Garden Road and Kirkman Road. Florida Highway Patrol and ClickOrlando report that around 6:30 a.m., a Toyota Rav4 was traveling in the area and attempted to make a U-turn. It is not clear what direction the Toyota had been headed initially. Troopers say that in trying to carry out the U-turn, the driver of the Toyota traveled into the path of an oncoming Mercedes (model not reported).

The front of the Mercedes ended up crashing into the passenger’s side of the Toyota, after which the Toyota veered into the right shoulder of the road. The Toyota then reportedly hit and fence and crashed into a tractor-trailer. It is unclear if the tractor-trailer was in motion on the road or was stopped off of the roadway. The report says that the Toyota ended up traveling partially underneath the trailer.

ClickOrlando reports that the driver of the Toyota was trapped inside the vehicle following the collision, and responding firefighters had to free her. She was injured and transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she is said to be in serious condition. She was identified as a 63-year-old woman.

The driver of the Mercedes and the driver of the tractor-trailer were not identified in the report. It is unclear if the Mercedes driver or anyone else sustained injuries in the wreck.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are still investigating the accident, and no additional information was included in the news report.
