Child Tragically Dies After Hit by Front-End Loader in Delray Beach, Florida

DELRAY BEACH, FL. – According to a news story reported online at, a child tragically died after he was hit by a front-end loader in Delray Beach, Florida. Little information about the accident has been reported so far, and police officers are asking for members of the public to contact them with any helpful information about the case.*

The incident occurred at an unknown location in Delray Beach. The Delray Beach Police Department and WPTV report that a child was riding a bicycle on a roadway, while a front-end loader was traveling to a construction site from a nearby parking lot. A front-end loader is a piece of construction equipment that is used to lift, move, and load materials at a construction site. 

The road was only described in the report as “a public street.” The name of the street was not reported, nor was any description of the parking lot the front-end loader had been in prior to the crash. Officers say that somehow, the front-end loader ran into the boy. It is not clear how this happened or what events led to the collision. 

WPTV reports that the child was tragically killed in the accident. He was said in the report to have been nine years old. His hometown was not listed in the report. 

The front-load operator was not identified in the news story. The report indicates that he or she stayed at the scene and has been cooperating with the investigation. It is not clear at this time if any charges will be pursued in connection with the accident. No further details about the collision or the investigation were provided in the report.
