ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL. – According to a news report posted online at tcpalm.com, a driver suspected to have been under the influence crashed into a sheriff’s deputy in St. Lucie County, Florida. Both the deputy and the other driver were injured in the accident and taken to local hospitals.*

The accident occurred early in the morning on Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Pierce, St. Lucie County, Florida. The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office and TC Palm report that around 5 a.m., a deputy with the county sheriff’s office was patrolling flooded areas on this roadway. In the 2000 block of the roadway, a Volkswagen of unknown model somehow crashed head-on into the deputy’s marked Humvee. It is unclear how the two vehicles ended up colliding, as the report did not say if the Volkswagen crossed the centerline.

His injuries were said to consist of a hip injury, and he was reportedly released from the hospital the same day.
