Two Tragically Killed in Motor Vehicle Accident on S.R. 16 in Clay County, Florida

CLAY COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news story reported at, two people tragically died in a vehicle crash that happened on State Road 16 in Clay County, Florida. Officials have no identified the two victims at this time, and sparse information regarding the events of the accident has been released.* 

The accident happened sometime in the morning at the crossing of State Road 16 with Blanding Boulevard. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Action News Jax report that sometime before 9 a.m., two vehicles were involved in an accident at the intersection. The vehicles were described as a white Dodge and a red truck. The model of the Dodge was not reported, and the make and model of the truck were not reported. 

The circumstances leading to the collision were not described, so it is not clear how the vehicles came to crash into each other or why the crash happened. Investigators have not said whether one of the two drivers was at fault in the accident. After the impact, the Dodge reportedly caught on fire.

Action News Jax states that two people were tragically killed in the accident. The two victims were not identified in the report, and it is unclear if they were the two drivers involved or if one or both were passengers. The news report did not say how many people were riding in the two vehicles. 

The crash caused the intersection to close down for an unspecified period of time. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office posted a message to social media after the accident that alerted the public to the crash and told people to expect delays in the area. Drivers were urged to avoid the intersection of they could and find other routes to their destinations. 

The accident is still under investigation.
