Teen Motorcyclist Tragically Dies in Collision with SUV on S.R. 54 in Pasco County, Florida

PASCO COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news story posted by, a teenage motorcyclist tragically died in a collision with an SUV that occurred on State Road 54 in Pasco County, Florida. The driver of the SUV was also injured in the accident, according to the news report, and Troopers say charges are pending.* 

The accident happened during the late morning, near Boyette Road on State Road 54. Florida Highway Patrol and the Tampa Bay Reporter state that around 11:15 a.m., a 2006 Dodge Caravan pulled onto State Road 54 from Sifter Parts and Service, located in the 29000 block of the highway. The driver of the Dodge attempted to change lanes after turning onto the westbound side of the roadway and ended up colliding with a westbound 2016 Suzuki GSXR 600 motorcycle. 

After the impact, the motorcycle reportedly crossed over the median of State Road 54 and came to a stop in the shoulder of the eastbound lanes. The Dodge came to a stop on westbound State Road 54. It is not yet clear why the driver of the Dodge changed lanes while the motorcycle was oncoming. The circumstances leading to the crash have not been fully reported at this time. 

The Tampa Bay Reporter states that the motorcyclist tragically died in the accident. The report identified him as an 18-year-old man from Wesley Chapel, Florida. The report does not say if anyone was riding on the motorcycle with the victim. 

The Tampa Bay Reporter also states that the driver of the Dodge was injured in the accident and taken to Florida Hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries is not clear. He was identified as a 71-year-old man from Zephyrhills, Florida. The report did not say if any passengers were in the Dodge at the time of the accident.
