Driver Dies in Tragic Crash on Interstate 4 in Orange County, Florida (FL)

July 29, 2020

ORANGE COUNTY, FL- The writes that a car crash occurred on Interstate 4 in Orange County this week that left one person dead. The tragic incident began when a woman slowed her vehicle down close to Turkey Lake Road to provide assistance to people in a disabled car.*

The victim was in a sedan and heading westbound when she spotted a broken-down SUV on the left shoulder of the interstate. The woman slowed down, but a driver behind her did not and crashed into the back of her car.

The impact pushed the sedan into the back of the SUV and ejected the driver from the sedan. Responders rushed the woman to the hospital, but she died a short while later.

The victim was a 35-year-old woman from Orlando. The woman in the SUV was identified as a 32-year-old from Davenport.

The driver who crashed into the sedan was a 25-year-old man from Orlando.

The 25-year-old’s car continued to veer off of the interstate after the impact, and he crashed through a fence and ended up on Turkey Lane Road. That individual, as well as the woman in the SUV, suffered injuries in the impact.

Police shut down parts of the interstate as well as Turkey Lane Road while they worked to rescue the victims and clear the scene. The wreck led to heavy traffic in the area.

Many of these types of crashes could be prevented by modern technology. Cars equipped with forwarding collision warning systems will alert drivers if they are getting too close to another vehicle. Such systems can help motorists avoid these potentially fatal collisions and make the roads safer.
