Crash Causes Injuries on Interstate 95 in Palm Beach, Florida (FL)

July 31, 2020

LAKE WORTH BEACH, FL- writes that a crash took place between several vehicles in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 this week. The incident led to three lanes being blocked off while crews worked at the scene. According to authorities, some of those involved sustained injuries.*

The cause of the wreck and the identities of those involved have not been reported. Drivers were instructed to avoid the area.

Interstate 95 has a reputation as being a dangerous road. In fact, at one point, a study identified the road as the most hazardous in the nation. Data from Florida differed slightly from the national numbers, which, according to officials, is not uncommon. However, even Florida’s numbers suggest that Interstate 95 is at the top of the list for the country’s deadliest roads.

Road construction in the Jacksonville area may have been frustrating for locals, but it also may have helped decrease the dangers on that part of the road. The stretch of Interstate 95 that runs in the Jacksonville area appears to have fewer fatal crashes than the interstate has in other parts of Florida.

Officers who patrol Interstate 95 say that like any road, it can be dangerous when drivers do not abide by the law or practice safe driving. For instance, many of the crashes are the result of speeding, drunk driving, drugged driving, and occupants failing to use their seatbelts. Any of those behaviors create risks regardless of where the drivers are traveling.

One driver reported how she nearly became a statistic on the interstate. A large truck cut her off, causing her to hit her brakes during a rainstorm. She ended up striking a barrier. Fortunately, the woman was only traveling at about 45 miles per hour at the time. Police informed her that if she had been traveling at a higher speed, she would likely have died in the wreck.
