Woman Killed in Tragic Crash on Buenaventura Boulevard in Osceola County, Florida (FL)

July 23, 2020

OSCEOLA COUNTY, FL- writes that a crash killed a 22-year-old woman and injured a one-year-old child this week in Osceola. The overnight wreck took place at the intersection of Wagon Circle and Buenaventura Boulevard.*

The driver was identified as a 22-year-old man. The man sustained critical injuries, but the female passenger died at the scene. The child is now reportedly recovering from his injuries.

Reports did not include the names of the victims.  Last year, 3,217 people lost their lives in car accidents in the state of Florida. More than 254,000 people were injured in such wrecks as well. The state saw a rise in traffic crash deaths in 2019. In 2018, 3,135 people died, although more people sustained injuries in 2018 than last year.

Nationally, traffic fatalities dropped last year in almost every category. Drivers, passengers, pedestrians, motorcyclists, and cyclists all saw lower numbers of traffic-related deaths. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also found that nine out of ten regions in the country experienced fewer fatal crashes. The only part of the country where fatal collisions were still on the rise in 2019 was in the southeast. Florida is one of the few states making up the only part of the country where more people were killed in collisions in 2019 than in 2018. In addition to Florida, the other states included in the region that experienced a two percent rise in fatal collisions are Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama.

For drivers in those regions who wish to avoid becoming a statistic, experts say slow down, buckle up, avoid distractions, and stay sober.
