Unlicensed Driver Causes Tragic Fatal Crash at Australia Avenue in West Palm Beach, Florida (FL)

July 15, 2020

WEST PALM BEACH, FL- writes that a driver caused a deadly crash this week in West Palm Beach. The incident left two people dead at the intersection of Australia Avenue and Belvedere Road. The victims included a 45-year-old woman and an eighteen-year-old man.*

The driver who caused the incident was identified as a 29-year-old man from West Palm Beach. Reports indicate that the driver has not held a valid license for ten years and may have never obtained a driver’s license. Police stated that the man drove through a red traffic light close to the Palm Beach International Airport, causing the fatal wreck.

The incident occurred in the late evening. The suspect was in a 2019 Nissan Frontier when he passed through the light and collided with the right side of a 2020 Honda Accord. The impact killed the teen, who was driving, and the woman who was a passenger in the Honda. The victims are both from West Palm Beach. The woman was the teenage boy’s stepmother, according to the teen’s aunt. The driver who caused the deadly crash sustained injuries and is currently in critical condition. Police are still investigating the wreck but stated that at this time, they do not suspect that alcohol or drugs were involved. Before killing the victims, the driver in the Nissan was spotted racing in a mall parking lot. When officers attempted to stop the man, he drove his Nissan directly at patrol cars. Police stated that they did not engage in a pursuit of the driver, but heard a short while later of the tragic wreck. The driver is now facing multiple charges in relation to the collision.
