Teens Die in Tragic Crash on North State Road 7 in Tamarac, Florida (FL)

July 12, 2020

TAMARAC, FL- writes that a crash occurred this week that tragically killed two teens in Tamarac. The incident took place in the late evening on North State Road 7.*

Reports state that the vehicle in which the victims were traveling in was speeding southbound. Witnesses reported that the driver was making aggressive lane changes and then lost control of her Honda Civic. After an attempt to correct, the car began to slide and then struck a concrete pole. The impact occurred on the driver’s side and was so severe that it broke the Honda into two pieces. The driver and a fourteen-year-old passenger both died in the crash. The driver was identified as a seventeen-year-old girl. Three passengers were also in the vehicle, including a sixteen-year-old girl, and two fourteen-year-old boys. The surviving passengers were all transported to the hospital and are in serious condition. The grandmother of the passenger killed in the wreck called the tragedy senseless and stated that the teens live only just down the road from the site of the deadly collision.

A small memorial now stands at the crash site where, even in the days following the impact, debris from the mangled Honda remained on site.

The grandmother stated that the fourteen-year-old’s mother is struggling to deal with the death and said that her own heart is broken and that she is breaking down constantly in the wake of the fatal crash.

The incident is still under investigation.

Car crashes are the number one cause of death for American teens. The risk of these young drivers being involved in a deadly collision is higher when they are traveling with other teenagers as passengers.
