Severe Injuries Reported in Two-Vehicle Crash in Jupiter, Florida
JUPITER, FL- Cbs12.com writes that three people suffered serious injuries in a crash in Jupiter. One of the victims suffered critical injuries. The early morning wreck occurred at the intersection of East Indiantown Road and Alt. AIA.*
One of the vehicles, identified as a Toyota Camry, was traveling westbound on Indiantown Road when it collided with a northbound Lexus that was traveling on Alt. AIA. Reports indicate one of the cars rolled over in the crash.
The victims in both of the vehicles were trapped following in the impact, and responders had to extract them from their cars. The person operating the Toyota suffered critical injuries in the incident and was rushed to the St. Mary's Medical Center for treatment. A passenger in that car and the driver in the Lexus were both transported to the Jupiter Medical Center.
Reports have not indicated the cause of the crash.
Cars only roll over in about three percent of all motor vehicle crashes, and yet rollovers lead to nearly one in three-car crash fatalities. While it is possible for any car to roll, some vehicles are more likely to overturn because of their designs. SUVs and other vehicles that are tall and more top-heavy present greater risks of rolling over in crashes than do cars that are lower to the ground.
When it comes to living through one of these harrowing crashes, wearing a seatbelt is vital. Not only will a seatbelt prevent a person from being thrown around the inside of a rolling vehicle, but they also are the best way to reduce the risk of being ejected in a crash.
