Tragic Three-Vehicle Crash Kills One in Lynne, Florida (FL)

April 28, 2020

LYNNE, FL- writes that a tragic crash took place in Lynne this week on State Road 40 close to its intersection with Northeast 10th Street. The three-vehicle collision left one woman dead and injured a man.*

The victim was identified as a 58-year-old woman who was driving a 2013 Ford Fusion. Reports indicate that a tractor-trailer was traveling westbound on SR 40. A Toyota Celica was driving eastbound in front of the victim’s Ford. The Toyota drifted into oncoming traffic, causing the left side of the tractor-trailer and left-side of the Toyota to collide. The impact caused the truck to veer into the eastbound lane where it struck the Ford’s left side. The driver’s side of the Ford was removed from the vehicle, causing the victim to be ejected from the car. The truck then left the road and crashed into some bushes located on the shoulder. Police state that all of the drivers were using their seatbelts at the time of the wreck.

The victim was declared dead at the scene of the collision. The 32-year-old Orlando man driving the truck became trapped inside of his vehicle. Rescue workers had to extract the man, and he was then transported to the Ocala Regional Medical Center, where he is being treated for severe injuries. The 31-year-old DeLand man driving the Toyota suffered injuries in the incident as well. After the crash, the road was closed for several hours. Responders struggled to remove the damaged truck from the swampy area in which it ended up after the impact. The fatality was the 29th in Marion County this year. Nest to the site of the wreck was a small cross marking the location of a previous fatal collision that left a 55-year-old man dead.
