Georgia Woman Charged in Tragic Road Rage Crash that Killed Mother and Injured Child

March 24, 2020

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA- writes that a 60-year-old woman is facing charges after causing a horrific collision that killed a 25-year-old woman and injured a six-year-old girl. The incident took place when the suspect reportedly ran the young mother’s SUV off of Interstate 575, causing the victim’s SUV to roll over and crash into the woods.*

The suspect then fled the scene of the crash. A tip pointed police in the direction of the woman responsible for the fatal wreck. The woman is now facing charges for reckless driving, vehicular homicide, aggressive driving, and hit-and-run. The suspect is currently being held in the Cherokee County Adult Correction Center without bond.

The crash took place in the mid-afternoon close to Airport Drive. Police released information regarding a dark-colored Chevrolet sedan that was wanted in connection to a deadly car crash. A driver who heard about the crash and the description of the vehicle contacted the police after seeing the suspect driving in an aggressive manner again, also on Interstate 575.

Police interviewed the woman and several of the suspect’s family members who were also in the vehicle at the time of the crash before gathering enough information to file charges.

Driving can be stressful, and about 80 percent of all motorists admit to engaging in some form of aggressive driving. Examples of this dangerous behavior include tailgating, yelling at other drivers, honking a horn in anger, making rude gestures, blocking other cars from changing lanes, or intentionally cutting a car off.

Experts say to avoid becoming a victim of road rage, try not to engage with an aggressive driver, and take steps to reduce your own stress.
