Family Mourns Loss Of 38-Year-Old Woman Killed While Trying to Help Crash Victim

March 21, 2020

JACKSONVILLE, FL- writes that family members celebrated the life of a woman who died in a traffic crash in Nassau County. The victim, a 38-year-old woman from Callahan, was struck by a car while trying to help another driver. The driver in the first incident struck and killed two horses that were on the roadway at the time. The victim pulled over and exited her vehicle when another driver struck and killed her on US 301.*

The police reports indicate that the incident began in the evening when a Toyota 4Runner driving southbound collided with the horses, killing the two animals.

The victim was in a Hyundai Genesis and witnessed the crash. She pulled her car to the roadside and was walking to check on the people in the 4Runner when another car approached the scene. A Kia Forte collided with one of the horses, causing the car to overturn. The Kia struck the woman and her Hyundai. The victim's fifteen-year-old daughter was in the car when the incident occurred, and according to the family, tried to save her mother. Sadly, the victim died at the site of the crash.

The family stated that the victim was a champion of the LGBTQ community who loved animals. She was originally from Jacksonville and attended the West Nassau High School in Callahan. The victim and her husband had recently celebrated their eleventh wedding anniversary. The family requested that people donate to the church rather than purchase flowers for the funeral service. A GoFundMe page has been set up to provide assistance to the family.
