Tragic, Fatal Crash Near Boca Rotan, Florida

March 15, 2020

BOCA RATON, FL- writes that a man died in a tragic collision close to Boca Raton this week. The incident occurred in the later evening when the 77-year-old victim was traveling northbound on Jog Road. Reports indicate that the victim was in a 2020 GMC Terrain, which struck a 2006 Isuzu NPR truck that was driving west on Glades. A 30-year-old man was operating the truck, and also sustained injuries in the wreck.*

Both drivers were rushed to the Delray Medical Center. The victim passed away from his injuries the following morning. Police are searching for witnesses to the crash. Anyone with information is being asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

Intersections can be extremely dangerous. Incidents occur because drivers fail to follow a traffic control device, whether a red light or a stop sign. One mishap at a crossroads intersection can cause fatal side-impact collisions or head-on wrecks because vehicles are traveling in all different directions.

Studies indicate that roundabouts are far safer than traditional intersections and are far better at preventing crashes than traffic lights. One of the benefits of a roundabout is that all of the traffic moves in the same direction. Because of this, there is less of a chance of crashes and a much slighter possibility of deadly wrecks. While roundabouts reduce all forms of traffic incidents, the most drastic drop is in fatal crashes. By using a roundabout rather than a crossroads, the rate of deadly collisions drops by an impressive 90 percent. While drivers may be intimidated by or dislike having to learn to navigate roundabouts, they are being installed in many locations around the country because of their proven safety benefits.
