Motorcyclist Dies in Tragic Collision on Dunn Avenue

March 12, 2020

JACKSONVILLE, FL- writes that a motorcyclist died in an afternoon crash this weekend. The incident took place when the 54-year-old victim was traveling westbound on Dunn Avenue and approaching Armsdale Road. A Chevrolet Silverado traveling on Armsdale made a left turn onto Dunn Avenue into the path of the motorcycle.*

A witness told reporters that she went to try to help the victim, who was lying on the pavement. The woman stated that she exited her vehicle and tried to get the man to regain consciousness. She said when the ambulance arrived, he was breathing. Sadly, within hours of the crash, the man died from his injuries. The woman said that she was upset after learning that the man she tried to save still died.

The woman stated that she travels that road daily and frequently sees dangerous situations and careless drivers.

The area has been growing in population leading to more congested roadways. One local stated that the intersection is incredibly dangerous but that she knew that no traffic light would be installed until a person died there. She stated that she predicted this would happen, given the fact that the intersection is so busy.

The driver operating the Silverado was a seventeen-year-old boy. Neither he nor his passenger, an eighteen-year-old, were injured in the incident.

According to officers, the teen driver caused this crash by failing to yield to the motorcycle as he was making his turn. Charges are now pending against the young motorist. The incident led to the closure of Dunn Avenue for several hours while responders worked to investigate and clear the scene.
