Motor Vehicle Crash in Florida Claims Life of Cape May Woman

March 04, 2020

TITUSVILLE, Fla. — A woman from Cape May County is dead, and her husband remains hospitalized after a head-on collision in Titusville. The 64-year-old woman who died succumbed to her injuries at the hospital several hours after the 8:00 a.m. crash. According to the Patch from Ocean City, New Jersey, a vehicle heading in the opposite direction swerved into the lane in which the couple was driving and collided with them head-on. The driver of the pickup truck that swerved into the opposite lane sustained minor injuries and did not need transportation to the hospital for treatment.  Florida law enforcement authorities continue to investigate the crash and have not announced any criminal charges to this point. *

Law enforcement officers said that the woman who died from her injuries sustained in the crash was a passenger in the car while her husband drove that fateful morning. The couple headed south on Florida Route 405 and collided with a pickup truck heading north. Officers have yet to determine why the pickup truck driver allowed his vehicle to weave into the southbound lane and crash head-on into the couple’s vehicle.  The officers noted the scene of the crash to be Bobbi Lane and South Street in the city of Titusville.

The man driving the pickup truck that apparently caused the crash is a 35-year-old man from Titusville. Officers said he only suffered minor injuries from the crash. He received medical treatment at the scene of the crash and was not transported to any hospital.

Officials said that they still investigating the cause of the crash. They did not place a timeframe on the conclusion of their investigation. They will conduct an accident reconstruction investigation to determine the speed of the vehicles at the instant they collided. Investigators will also try to figure out why the pickup truck departed from its travel lane and killed an innocent victim and inflicted severe injuries upon her husband.
