Lynx Bus Crash in Orlando Hospitalizes Six

January 29, 2020

ORLANDO, FL- writes that a bus crash involving a Lynx bus injured six people over the weekend in Orlando. The collision involved three vehicles, including the bus, a passenger car, and a truck. The incident occurred on Texas Avenue when a Nissan pulled into the roadway in front of a pickup truck and the bus.*

A witness traveling in the opposite direction said that the Nissan then veered into her lane before the driver lost control and struck a wall. The person operating the truck fled the scene. Two people in the Nissan, identified as teens, were injured in the crash. A witness stated that people were able to help one of the injured teens out of the vehicle, but that the other was stuck until responders arrived. Four other people were also injured in the wreck and were taken to a nearby hospital. Reports did not indicate the severity of any of the injuries. Police are looking for the truck driver who fled the scene. Reports indicate that the truck is believed to have been stolen.

Hit-and-run drivers often flee because they are violating another law at the time of the crash, and fear being arrested. These drivers are often drunk or lack a valid driver’s license. In many cases, drivers who cause hit-and-run crashes are never apprehended. It is important for witnesses to help police identify the vehicles involved in these crashes. The consequences of a hit-and-run can be devastating for the victims. Even in cases with property damage only, hit-and-run drivers leave others with a messy and stressful situation, including having to navigate expensive and complicated insurance issues.
