Police Arrest Hit-and-Run Driver in Easter Bunny Costume in Seminole County, Florida

January 27, 2020

SEMINOLE COUNTY, FL- writes that a motorcyclist was involved in a hit-and-run crash in Seminole County, Florida, this week. The rider ran through a stop sign and struck a carport. The carport collapsed and fell onto a parked vehicle. The motorcycle then collided with a chain-link fence causing the vehicle to flip over.*

The police went to the motorcyclist’s home and saw a Nissan Rogue that was leaving the residence and traveling down Terry Drive. The officers stopped the car and found the fleeing motorcyclist lying down in the back seat. The man was wearing an Easter Bunny costume and was clearly injured.

The police removed the costume for their safety and arrested the man for fleeing the scene of a crash. Officers transported the man to the hospital, and then later transferred him to the county jail. Police say that the suspect was arrested last year in Orlando when he was involved in a fight, also while wearing the Easter Bunny costume. According to earlier reports, the suspect was wanted in New Jersey, where a warrant was out for his arrest after he failed to appear in court. The man was also a suspect in a carjacking and two armed robberies.

In many cases, drivers who flee the scene of a crime are those who are under the influence of alcohol or who do not have a valid license. These motorists are inclined to attempt to avoid arrest, and therefore more likely to leave. Fleeing the scene of a crash is a criminal act that can lead to harsh penalties, including prison time and extensive fines.
