Four Dead and One Child Injured in State Road 24 Crash

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – According to online news reports at and, three adults and one child tragically died and another young child sustained injuries in a vehicular crash on State Road 24 in Alachua County, Florida, per the Florida Highway Patrol.*

The accident occurred in the nighttime hours over this past weekend. Per a press release on the crash, an unidentified driver operating a 2019 Hyundai Elantra was headed west in the eastbound lane of State Route 24 (near Northeast 69th Way), which is also known as Waldo Road.  The other vehicle, a 2007 Toyota Rav 4 was headed eastbound on the road.   As a result, the two automobiles slammed into each other head-on.  

The driver of the Toyota, a 30-year-old man, and his passenger, a 31-year-old woman, both from St. Mary’s, Georgia, tragically died in the accident. The driver of the Hyundai was also killed in the crash but has not yet been identified due to fire damage to the vehicle that occurred following the accident. Also traveling in the Rav 4 were two children, a four-year-old boy, who tragically passed away, and a six-month-old girl, who sustained injuries.  

The Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
