Two Injured in Crash at the Intersection of Laramore Road and County Road 167 in Jackson County, Florida

November 14, 2019

JACKSON COUNTY, FL – According to an online news report at, two men from Georgia sustained injuries in a crash that occurred at the intersection of Laramore Road and County Road 167 in Jackson County, Florida.*

Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol indicate that the accident occurred in the evening hours over the weekend, and involved a Ford F-150 pickup truck and a Ford motor home. Authorities note that the driver of the motor home was stopped at a stop sign, and then did not yield to oncoming traffic when attempting to turn left onto County Road 167.  The motor home then drove into the path of an oncoming F-150.  The two vehicles slammed into one another and both occupants in the F-150 sustained injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted by the Jackson County Fire Rescue as well as the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

According to statistics from the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), turning left is a leading critical pre-accident event, and happens in about 22% of crashes.  Additionally, over 61% of accidents that occur while crossing an intersection or turning involve a left-hand turn.

A study issued by the NHTSA indicates that 36% of all vehicular accidents occur at intersections, with over 480,000 of those accidents involving drivers who are attempting to turn left.  The common reasons for left-turn accidents are as follows:

  • Obstructed view while turning left;
  • Inadequate surveillance such as driving into another vehicle’s blind spots;
  • Misjudging another driver’s speed;
  • Attempting to beat a red light or running a stop sign before turning left;
  • A miscalculation of the distance or “gap” across an intersection; and
  • A failure to use a turn signal or yield the right-of-way.
