One Tragically Killed, Four Injured in Wreck on Park Ave. in Clay County, Florida

CLAY COUNTY, FL. – According to a news report published online at, one person was tragically killed and four others were injured in a wreck that occurred on Park Avenue in Clay County, Florida. Troopers with Florida Highway Patrol are still investigating the crash and have not yet determined the cause.*

The accident took place in the late evening in the area of Park Avenue and Stiles Avenue. Florida Highway Patrol and Action News Jax report that shortly after 11 p.m., a Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling without its lights on and tried to turn left onto Park Central Plaza. It is not clear what direction the truck was traveling at the time. 

In making the turn, Troopers say that the Dodge truck collided with a Chevrolet Cobalt that was traveling north on Park Avenue. After the impact, the Dodge ended up crashing into a light pole. It is not clear at this time why the driver of the Dodge did not have the vehicle’s lights on or what caused the collision. Troopers did not identify any other factors that contributed to the wreck.

Action News Jax reports that the driver of the Dodge was tragically killed in the collision. This person has not been identified. Action News Jax further reports that two other people traveling in the Dodge were injured. They were identified as a 21-year-old man from Columbia, South Carolina, and a fourteen-year-old girl from Columbia. The nature of their injuries was not clear.

In addition, according to Action News Jax, the two people riding in the Chevy were both injured in the crash. The driver, identified as a 52-year-old man, sustained unknown injuries. The passenger, identified as a 41-year-old woman from Middleburg, Florida, was critically injured. Her current medical condition is not known.
