Pedestrian Tragically Killed on United States Highway 19 in Hudson, Florida

October 31, 2019

HUDSON, FL –According to an online news report at fox13news.com, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is currently searching for a driver that struck a pedestrian and then fled the scene.*

The accident occurred over the weekend in the early morning hours.  The accident happened in the southbound lanes of United States Highway 19 located close to Sea Ranch Drive in Hudson, Florida.

Per the FHP, a 40-year-old male pedestrian was attempting to cross the road when he was hit by a pickup truck.  The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene of the accident.  Due to the impact of the crash, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  His age and identity have not been released to the public at this time.

Troopers with the FHP indicate that the hit-and-run vehicle is likely a Dodge or Chevrolet pickup truck.  In addition, FHP notes that a bleach bucket and towel were left at the scene, which may be associated with the hit-and-run driver. If so, the FHP believes that the suspect may work in the pool industry.  Anyone with information on the accident is asked to contact the FHP.
