October 29, 2019

OKALOOSA COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news report posted at wjhg.com, a vehicle crash that happened on State Road 293 in Okaloosa County, Florida, resulted in one fatality. The report indicates that one person was also seriously injured in the accident. Florida Highway Patrol is managing the accident investigation, and Troopers have not determined the cause of the wreck at this time.*

The accident took place in the late evening, close to Forrest Road on State Road 293. Florida Highway Patrol and WJHG report that shortly before 10 p.m., a Toyota Yaris was traveling eastbound on the roadway and somehow crossed over the centerline. The Toyota then entered into the westbound lane and crashed into a westbound Dodge Ram.

It is not yet clear what caused the driver of the Toyota to leave her lane of travel. Investigators did not have immediate information about what circumstances might have been involved in the accident or what factors might have contributed to the Toyota crossing over the middle line of the roadway.

WJHG reports that the driver of the Toyota was tragically killed in the crash. The report identified her as a 25-year-old woman from Crestview, Florida. No passengers were said to have been in the vehicle with her when the crash took place.

WJHG also reports that the driver of the Dodge was injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was identified in the report as a 30-year-old man from Freeport, Florida. His injuries were said to be serious. It appears he was the only person in the Dodge at the time of the crash.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are still investigating the accident, and at the time of the WJHG report’s publishing online, no further details had been released to the public regarding the investigation.
