Fatal Crash Occurs in Palm Beach, Investigation Continues in Brevard County, Florida

October 27, 2019

BREVARD COUNTY, FL – According to online news reports at and, a tragic accident involving multiple fatalities occurred along Kirkland Road and United States Highway 1 in Palm Bay.  An investigation continues.*

Police arrived at the scene of the accident that involved several casualties.  All of the northerly and southerly lanes of United States Highway 1 were blocked while emergency personnel and law enforcement worked the scene. The accident occurred in the nighttime hours. The identity of the victims has not been reported. Motorists were advised to find alternative routes to get to their respective destinations.

Investigators from Palm Bay are still in the midst of conducting an investigation as to why an automobile exited its lane, went across the median on United States Highway 1, and slammed into another vehicle.  The accident occurred over this past weekend and left the drivers of both vehicles, who were the only occupants, with fatal injuries.  The two victims tragically died at the scene of the accident, which is near Kirkland Road.

"We have no idea if it was intoxication, medical related or some other factor," said a Palm Bay Police Department spokesperson.

According to a preliminary investigation of the crash, it appears that speed may have played a role in the accident.  “Both vehicles were absolutely mangled,” said the spokesperson. The identification of the victims will not be reported until their families have been notified.  As of today, all of the lanes of United States Highway 1 have been reopened.
