Teenager Struck by SUV While Riding a Bicycle in Kissimmee, Florida Remains Hospitalized

KISSIMMEE, FL – According to an online news report at, the Kissimmee Police Department has identified a teenager who was struck by a sports utility vehicle while riding on a bicycle.*

The teen, a 15-year-old boy, is in the hospital and remains unconscious. Per police, the teenager was struck earlier this week while riding a bicycle on Fortune Road in Kissimmee. The accident occurred close to Gateway High School.  It is not clear whether the victim was a student there.  

The teenager was not carrying identification at the time of the crash however, his uncle was able to identify him.  He was staying with his uncle at the time of the accident due to the fact that his parents were out of town, per police.  

The boy’s bicycle was found on the street along with his backpack that was recovered on the side of the roadway following the accident.  Police indicate that a gray sports utility vehicle sustained damage to its front end.  The vehicle’s windshield was also damaged.  "We do have some people at the hospital just trying to stay with the individual that was hit on the bicycle and hopefully be able to speak to that person," said an officer with the Kissimmee Police Department.  

The teen was transported to an area hospital via medical helicopter. He is reported as having sustained serious injuries as a result of the impact of the crash.  The roadway was closed for several hours as emergency personal and local authorities worked the scene.  Police indicate that the driver of the sports utility vehicle stayed at the scene of the accident.  

It is not clear what caused the accident in the first place.  The boy’s name has not been released to the public at this time.  There are no further details on the accident. The crash remains under investigation by the local police.
