Belleview Pedestrian Involved in Accident on South United States Highway 441

BELLEVIEW, FL – According to an online news report at, an accident occurred in the northbound lanes of United States Highway 441 close to Southeast 95thStreet in the early nighttime hours.*

The pedestrian, a male, aged 48, tragically died while attempting to go across South United States Highway 441 close to Belleview late last week.  The Florida Highway Patrol has not released the name of the victim at this time because the next-of-kin have not yet been notified of his death, per a media release.  

A man, aged 64, from Ocala, Florida was driving a 2005 Ford Escape and was headed northbound in the inside lane of the highway, per the Florida Highway Patrol.  The victim was crossing the road from east to west and went directly into the path of the sports utility vehicle.  Upon being stuck, he was thrown onto the median of the roadway.  It is not clear whether the driver of the sports utility vehicle sustained injuries in the crash.

This traffic fatality represents the 64thin Marion County thus far this year.  57 deaths have occurred in unincorporated areas of the county and seven happened in the city. 

There are no further details on the accident at this time.  The crash remains under investigation by the local police.
