Two Hospitalized Following Rollover Bus Crash on S.R. 60 in Osceola County, Florida

October 09, 2019

OSCEOLA COUNTY, FL- writes that a tour bus transporting 30 people was involved in a rollover crash on S.R. 60. Two of the passengers in the vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.*

Reports indicate that the bus collided with a barrier and tipped over. No other vehicles were involved in the collision. The bus driver seemed to have simply lost control of the vehicle. The crash led to the right lane being closed down. For more than one hour while emergency responders worked to clear the scene.

The crash took place a little before 10:40 in the morning. The scene was cleared by about 12:20.

Bus crashes are dangerous not just for the occupants of the buses, but also for other people on the road. If a large bus collides with a smaller vehicle, the results for the smaller vehicle can be devastating.

There are many factors that can contribute to vehicle collisions. With buses specifically, the size of the vehicle is often a factor. In many cases, bus drivers fail to see smaller vehicles or pedestrians leading to an accident. Buses are also difficult to maneuver. It is not possible for a bus to swerve or stop on a dime. These big vehicles require plenty of time and space to move safely. In many cases, the problem is that the driver lacks the proper training to safely operate the bus. This leads to many lawsuits regarding the company’s hiring practices. If a company hires a driver who is not properly trained, this can lead to allegations of negligent hiring. In some instances, the maintenance of the bus comes into question as well as a poorly maintained vehicle may create added risks for an accident to occur.
