Man Killed in Crash on Interstate 10 in Crestview, Florida

October 09, 2019

CRESTVIEW, FL- writes that according to the Florida Highway Patrol, a man was killed in a car crash on Interstate 10. The victim was a 49-year-old man. Reports indicate that the deceased was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.*

The victim was a passenger in one of two vehicles that were involved in a head-on collision. The driver was a 48-year-old man who had a 45-year-old passenger in his vehicle. The other two vehicle occupants were transported to the hospital via airlift.

The crash caused the closure of certain parts of the interstate when it took place at about 2 in the afternoon. The deceased victim was reportedly ejected from the vehicle.

Seatbelts are an easy and effective way to reduce a person’s risk of being killed in a car accident. Fortunately, most people now use their seatbelts, but there are still a few people who neglect to take that one simple step for their own safety.

One of the ways seatbelts help prevent severe injuries and deaths is by preventing people from being ejected in a collision. Vehicle ejections have an extremely high rate of death. Few people survive being ejected from a vehicle in a collision.

While some people may believe that they are safe in a car without a seatbelt because of airbags, this is certainly not the case. In fact, airbags are only effective when a person uses a seatbelt, which secures them in the proper position to be protected by the airbag.

In many cases, seatbelts are also required by law. By failing to use a seatbelt, you are dramatically increasing your chances of being seriously injured in a crash. Therefore, it is prudent to buckle up and ensure others in your vehicle do so as well so as to avoid unnecessary injuries.
