Three Vehicle Collision Leads to Road Closures in Tallahassee, Florida

October 07, 2019

TALLAHASSEE, FL- writes that a traffic collision took place at the intersection of Capital Circle SE and Blair Stone Road causing major traffic delays in the area. The incident occurred at about 4:15 in the afternoon. Emergency responders arrived at the scene of the three-vehicle crash and transported two of the vehicle occupants to a nearby hospital for treatment of critical injuries.*

Traffic Homicide Investigators were at the scene and conducting an investigation. Drivers were advised to avoid the area near the accident because of delays.

Traffic accidents are common in the United States, and statistically, everyone will be in one or more of these accidents within the course of our lifetimes. Some of these accidents cause nothing more than property damage while the most severe accidents have fatal consequences. Vehicle manufacturers have continued to make cars safer over the years with the assistance of better safety technology. Cars now protect occupants better because of sturdier designs, airbags and crumple zones, but some of the more recent and more modern technology focuses more on avoiding accidents altogether. Many vehicles are now capable of notifying drivers of nearby vehicles and risks and can even detect pedestrians. Some of the newer cars may even apply the brakes in an emergency and therefore avoid an accident and can also help a driver stay in their lane preventing crashes from occurring when a driver who is inattentive drifts out of their lane of traffic.

Despite improved technology, there are still too many people, tens of thousands a year, being killed in car crashes. Many cities are now working to make the roads safer through engineering solutions and to use education to reduce traffic fatalities and with the end goal of zero people being killed in car crashes.
