Man from Rhode Island Tragically Dies in a Motorcycle Accident in Weston, Florida

WESTON, FL – According to an online news report at, a man formerly from Rhode Island and his girlfriend tragically perished in a motorcycle accident in Florida back in September.*

The man, aged 55, attended Cumberland High School in Rhode Island as well as the University of Rhode Island.  The man and his passenger, a woman, aged 57, both died after their tire blew out on United States Highway 27 close to Weston, Florida, per a report from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. This incident occurred in the nighttime hours.

The couple, who were known by friends and family to “live for each other,” had been out to dinner with another couple, per the Sun-Sentinel.  The man had been living in Weston, Florida at the time of the accident.

For the past sixteen years, the man was a pilot for Jet Blue Airlines, per his obituary.  He also flew for US Air, New England Airlines, and TWA.  The man was known as a Bruins and Patriots fan.  

 “Although [the man] was fiercely independent and a free spirit, he was always willing to lend a helping hand,” his obituary states. “Time with him was spent with his jokes and laughter. He had a unique ability to lift your spirits with his intellect and humor. ‘Handsome Captain Extraordinaire,’ he was someone you always wanted to be with, dependable, and a loving and dedicated partner to his true love.”
