Miami Developers Banking on Flying Cars
MIAMI, FL. – According to an online story at miami.cbslocal.com, developers in Miami, Florida, are banking on flying cars coming onto the scene in the near future, and they’re creating landing pads on new buildings to accommodate the aircrafts.*
Developers think flying cars are closer to reality than the general public believes, so they are planning on landing pads becoming a key feature to several new buildings in Miami. The new Paramount Miami WorldCenter in downtown Miami is going to have a flying car dock, the world’s first residential skyport, on the top of the 60-story tower.
The Ritz-Carlton Residences in Miami Beach will have a “floating helipad” to serve planes, helicopters, drones, and flying cars. It will open sometime in 2019 and will also have a yacht for shuttling residents to their doors. In addition, the 62-story Zaha Hadid’s One Thousand Museum, which is almost complete, will feature a rooftop helipad that doubles as an observation deck.
“These flying car projects are the real deal,” said Dan Kodsi, CEO of Paramount Ventures. “They are funded. NASA is involved. It’s not just science fiction anymore. The future of transportation is here within the next 10 to 15 years, and urban aviation is closer to reality than you might expect. The flying vehicles will use airspace to alleviate transportation congestion and traffic on the ground for quicker daily commutes and cleaner air around the world. These vehicles are more like a helicopter, but much quieter, run electronically, and are environmentally friendly.”
Kodsi is in the process of converting the rooftop on a Paramount high rise into a 5,000 square foot skyport for passenger drones and flying cars.
